Welcome to Woodwalk Golden Retrievers |

Since 1980, our Golden Retrievers have lived in our home, traveled with us to vacation destinations, dog shows, obedience trials, agility trials, meetings, picnics, nursing homes, hospitals, and anywhere else we opted to take them. They’ve adjusted to living in a motor home, motels, friends’ homes, as well as our own home. From New England to the Pacific Ocean, from the U.P. of Michigan to San Antonio, Texas, in large cities and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, our dogs have traveled with us.
From our experiences, we’ve found what characteristics we want in an all-around family pet/show dog/performance dog. These characteristics are the ones we seek when we decide to breed our occasional litters. While we perform the normal "checks" recommended by the Golden Retriever Club of America (hips and elbows -Orthopedic Foundation of America , eyes - Canine Eye Registry Foundation, and heart - Veterinary Cardiologist), we have found over the years that many other problems can have a much more significant impact on a family companion. Some of these problems are: improper temperament, allergies, epilepsy, and unsoundness issues other than those listed above.
For these reasons, we carefully choose which dogs we will incorporate into our limited breeding program. With most of our grandchildren living a few doors down the street from us, our primary focus has been and will remain correct, reliable, gentle temperament. both with people and with other dogs. Either everyone gets along with everyone else, or they’re "outta here"!!!!! Along with mental stability, we look for trainability and a good work ethic out of our dogs. Other than the conformation ring, Woodwalk Golden Retrievers are actively competing in agility, obedience, and even a few weekend hunters, as well as therapy dogs and home companions. Brains and the willingness to work with people is not a given in this breed. We must pursue it in our breeding programs. Here, at Woodwalk, we do!!!
